Dog Grooming How To and Tips

June 30th, 2008

No matter how cute your dog is every dog succumbs to stinky dog syndrome at one time or another. Dogs need to follow proper hygiene practices similar to humans and you are the one to help them do this. It is important to engage in pet grooming so that your dog does not end up having the infamous dog odor and matted, dirty fur. You need to keep them in tip top shape.

Pet grooming entails a depth of grooming services that you need to do perform on your dog often. The most basic pet grooming service that you should do is to give your dog a bath. This pet grooming necessity often makes your dog run for the hills, so following are tips to help you bathe your dog successfully.

You want to make your dog’s bathing experience a pleasant one so they don’t shake in terror the moment you show them the bathtub. Therefore, make sure the bathroom is comfortably warm. Gather pet grooming bath supplies together before bringing the dog into the bathroom. You don’t want them to cower in fear while you stumble around searching for their doggy shampoo. Path grooming bath supplies include dog shampoo, bucket, towels, and hair dryer.

Once you have your pet grooming supplies ready then go find your dog. Bring them into the bathroom first and then turn on the water. Pet them and comfort them while you are waiting for the water to become a warm, soothing temperature. Keep smiling and make a bath sound like it is the best thing since sliced bread.
You can bathe your dog in the bath tub by using a bucket to splash water over their body. You can also find a hose with a sprayer at the end at your grocery or home supply store. This can be very helpful as it speeds up the washing process.

You can wash your dog with your hands, but there are also rubber textured mittens available on the market. These pet grooming gloves work well to gently scrub your dog clean while giving them a massage at the same time. This massage technique will help your dog to not only take the bath without problems, but actually enjoy it.

There are several pet grooming dog shampoos to choose from. Some pet grooming shampoos are medicated against fleas and ticks. You can also find scented shampoos and shampoos that are made for dogs with sensitive skin. The type of shampoo you will use in your pet grooming can depend on the time of year.

For example, some dogs have allergies in the late fall or spring that prompt them to need hypoallergenic shampoo while in the winter they need a more moisture rich shampoo. The important thing is to use shampoo that is specifically created for dogs. Never use dish soap or your own shampoo as this can likely plague your dog with painful skin irritation. Consult your veterinarian and dog groomer for shampoo recommendations.

Once your dog is in the tub you need to make sure to wash water over their entire body. Place a small amount of shampoo in your hands and start by washing the top of their head. Do this with extreme care as you do not want shampoo to seep into their eyes. You can cover their eyes with your hands and rinse in the direction away from their eyes. You can also use eye drops prescribed by your vet that will ward against any shampoo that has accidentally snuck into their eyes.

Continue this process by massage in a small amount of shampoo on their back working your way around their entire body. It is critical to rinse thoroughly so that you don’t have any shampoo build up that can be an itchy situation for your dog.

Dry them first with a towel as they shake their entire body as well. Don’t forget to gently wipe the inside of their ears and paws with the towel to remove an excess water or moisture. Moisture left in their ears can lead to wax and bacteria build up which leaves them prone to ear infections in the future.

Next you need to continue your pet grooming by drying your dog with a hair dryer. Use the medium setting that is not too hot and test it on yourself first to ensure you won’t burn your dog. Hold the hair dryer at least six inches from your dog’s fur and work your way from the dense fur on your dog’s back to their legs and face. Continue pet grooming until your dog’s fur is almost dry, but not completely. You don’t want to risk burning their precious skin by drying their hair for too long. You can brush through their hair as you dry it to give it body and style.

It is a good idea to give your dog praise and encouragement during and after this pet grooming session. This will help to improve their behavior during the bath which could save you from being drenched in their splashing water. Bathe your pet as often as necessary. Some dogs require more frequent pet grooming while others can go a longer period of time. Consult your veterinarian and pet groomer for advice about your particular dog.

Bathing your pet can also be a great time to bond with your canine companion while removing their stinky dog smell in the process!

DR-CAFTA’s Worst Enemy

June 30th, 2008

Perhaps the most well-known politician from Costa Rica today, Professor Ottn Sols has vocally opposed the provisions of DR-CAFTA (formerly CAFTA until the Dominican Republic joined the negotiations). The founder of the Citizens’ Action Party and a two-time presidential candidate, Prof. Ottn Sols regards DR-CAFTA as a mechanism that aims to eradicate the internal market that brings profits to small farmers and industrial companies of Costa Rica and has since demanded for renegotiations.Prof. Ottn Sols’ arguments are very much plausible, considering the possible effects the agreement will have on the Costa Rican economy. One of his arguments is about the potentially huge flow of cheap products coming from the United States. Under the terms of the DR-CAFTA, 80% of the import taxes on all merchandises and products coming in from the United States have been eliminated, with a phasing-out scheme for the remaining 20% to be conducted in subsequent years. Such agreement would hamper the growth of Costa Rica’s local market. From a businessman’s point of view, the lowering of the tax barriers of imported goods, poses a threat to any thriving internal business. Any consumer will pick a shirt made in the United States instead of the local brand almost always. According to Prof. Solis, it’s not just an attack on Costa Rica’s local market, but on Costa Rica’s democracy itself. With his laudable rebuttals and criticisms of DR-CAFTA, he may be right.

Searching For God Stories - The Real Story

June 29th, 2008

We all want to be inspired in one-way or another, don’t we? It struck me one day that what I was really trying to do by writing articles was to inspire people, myself included, to search for God.

Sometimes you have to take some quiet time to review what you are doing with your life. When I did, it hit me. I was searching for the God of my dreams in my own way. Doesn’t everyone search for the God of his or her dreams in their own way?

I started reading through all the articles that I had written and came to the conclusion that they all had the central themes of searching for God, finding faith, and becoming inspired to become a person of faith.

I guess to some people these things come naturally, but in my case it has always been a struggle to develop a strong belief in God. I have found that it gets easier over time as my needs become greater, and the realization of my own mortality becomes more self-evident.

I find it more and more important to try and do something relevant, something that will help other people and thus make me feel better. That’s what moved me to create a short book out of my many articles. I call them the “Search For God Stories.” I hope they will help inspire you to find more faith, and to make your search for the God of your dreams a success. I hope they will help you find peace of mind. I hope they will make you feel wonderful.

You can add your own expression of faith to this free e-book to help us all in our search for God if you wish. You can find out how to do so in the book. Wouldn’t you like to become a famous published author?

Hurry, God and your friends and family may be waiting to hear what you have to say!

Please feel free to use this article as long as credit is given to the resource box.

5 Important Things to Remember to Get the Best Mortgage

June 29th, 2008

The market of new houses is now experiencing a great increase in sales and profit. Old houses are now being traded for newer ones. A great way to finance your new home purchase is to mortgage.

If there are instances that you are not eligible because of some credit concerns, you should not worry. You can still plan for it in the future. It is probable that in just a few months, you can buy a home if you consider the following tips:

1. Do not make too much purchases for the next couple of months. Instead, prepare money for your down payment. The reason for this is that even a debt of only 15,000 dollars will still appear unpleasant to the mortgage lenders credit score system.

2. Do not choose a very costly home especially if it is just going to jack up your expenses. You have to ensure that you are able to pay for your debt load consistently, so before choosing the type of house you want, consider your income first.

3. Do not get disqualified for a mortgage. Make sure that you will get approved. In order to qualify, you are required to submit your credit information to a mortgage lender. And you must allow your lender to get your credit report and debt/income data.

4. Do not forget the form of money personality you have before taking a mortgage.

5. Keep in mind that home possession may provide many problems. The charge of non-payment on a loan is a lot larger than the fine of missing a rent fee.

Therefore, if you are planning to apply for a mortgage, be sure to remember these five important things in order to end up successfully with the best mortgage there is.

Are All Those Pet Vaccinations Really Necessary?

June 28th, 2008

Would you like to save money and have a healthier pet? Let me tell you a
story. One day, my German Shepherd asleep, as usual, when suddenly, he
started convulsing so intensely that I thought he must be dying. It went on for
a few minutes, which seemed like forever. After, I couldn’t believe he was OK. It
turned out to be a seizure, and it was then that I began to learn
about alternative medicine for pets.

The most interesting thing I found out was that vaccinations seem to be a
main cause of seizures in dogs, and annual vaccinations are not necessary,
possibly causing more harm than good. After that incident, we stopped
vaccinating and the seizures became less and less. I’m going to tell you how
it’s in both your and your pet’s best interest to avoid yearly vaccinations.
Annual re-vaccination is simply not necessary.

Here is an excerpt from page 205 of Current Veterinary Therapy XI, a
reference considered to be the premier resource for the entire veterinary field.

“A practice that was started many years ago and that lacks scientific
validity or verification is annual revaccinations. ALMOST WITHOUT EXCEPTION
THERE IS NO IMMUNOLOGIC REQUIREMENT FOR ANNUAL REVACCINATION.
Immunity to viruses persists for years or for the life of the animal.”

If you’re concerned about not vaccinating yearly, you can get proof of
immunity even years after the shot, by a blood test called a titer. Many
veterinarians, especially holistic vets, will provide these tests. See http://
www.AlternativesForAnimals.com for a directory of holistic vets.

Overvaccination can even cause more harm than good. This is something
that almost all holistic vets agree upon, and some of the top vets in the country
attribute many health problems to vaccines.

Dr. Richard Pitcairn, a holistic pioneer and well respected vet who
researched immunology extensively, believes that the biggest factor
contributing to epilepsy in dogs is yearly vaccinations. (1) Many seizures
happen within a few weeks of dogs getting their shots.

According to this theory that overvaccination causes harm, vaccines work
with immunity, and overvaccination weakens the immune system. This in turn
causes auto-immune problems in cats and dogs like skin problems, hair loss,
tumors, and arthritis. A weakened immune system leaves your pet open to all
kinds of potential health problems. (2)

Why do almost all conventional vets recommend yearly vaccinations? It’s
been the industry standard. According to veterinarian Dr. Carolyn Blakey, it
accounts for up to 80% of a vet’s business. To recommend less frequent
vaccination, vet businesses would take a big financial blow.

If it concerns you to avoid vaccinations, are there any alternatives? There
are a couple options. Some holistic vets follow a modified program of
vaccinations, giving them at less frequent intervals.

Another option is homeopathic. Homeopathic nosodes are a remedy
administered to pets that are believed to assist in disease prevention. Nosodes
are made from the actual virus, just like a vaccine, but are made differently and
are totally safe.

According to Donna Starita, DVM, a leading homeopathic vet, many
studies show homeopathic nosodes to be just as effective or more so than
conventional vaccines in preventing disease. (3)

Some breeders, such as author Celeste Yarnall, Ph.D., that are interested
in more natural methods use exclusively nosodes in place of regular shots.
They swear by it’s effectiveness and they say their animals are much healthier
than earlier generations that got shots. (4)

So, it’s OK to question the necessity of yearly pet vaccinations, with their
questionable necessity and potential adverse effects on your pet’s health. This
is the beginning of this movement, and over the coming years, it’s my opinion
that we’ll probably see more movement away from such frequent vaccination.
Some veterinary schools are already changing their curriculum to advocate
changes in vaccination frequency. In the end, it will save us all money, and
we’ll have healthier pets.

So next time you get that little reminder card in the mail that your pet is
due for their shots, think twice! And switch your pet’s care to a vet that is more
careful about the use of vaccines.

Comment On the Importance of Human Life

June 26th, 2008

The preservation of human life is the ultimate value, a pillar of ethics and the foundation of all morality. This held true in most cultures and societies throughout history.

On first impression, the last sentence sounds patently wrong. We all know about human collectives that regarded human lives as dispensable, that murdered and tortured, that cleansed and annihilated whole populations in recurrent genocides. Surely, these defy the aforementioned statement?

Liberal philosophies claim that human life was treated as a prime value throughout the ages. Authoritarian regimes do not contest the over-riding importance of this value. Life is sacred, valuable, to be cherished and preserved. But, in totalitarian societies, it can be deferred, subsumed, subjected to higher goals, quantized, and, therefore, applied with differential rigor in the following circumstances:

1.. Quantitative - when a lesser evil prevents a greater one. Sacrificing the lives of the few to save the lives of the many is a principle enshrined and embedded in activities such as war and medicinal care. All cultures, no matter how steeped (or rooted) in liberal lore accept it. They all send soldiers to die to save the more numerous civilian population. Medical doctors sacrifice lives daily, to save others.

It is boils down to a quantitative assessment (”the numerical ratio between those saved and those sacrificed”), and to questions of quality (”are there privileged lives whose saving or preservation is worth the sacrifice of others’ lives?”) and of evaluation (no one can safely predict the results of such moral dilemmas - will lives be saved as the result of the sacrifice?).

2.. Temporal - when sacrificing life (voluntarily or not) in the present secures a better life for others in the future. These future lives need not be more numerous than the lives sacrificed. A life in the future immediately acquires the connotation of youth in need of protection. It is the old sacrificed for the sake of the new, a trade off between those who already had their share of life - and those who hadn’t. It is the bloody equivalent of a savings plan: one defers present consumption to the future.

The mirror image of this temporal argument belongs to the third group (see next), the qualitative one. It prefers to sacrifice a life in the present so that another life, also in the present, will continue to exist in the future. Abortion is an instance of this approach: the life of the child is sacrificed to secure the future well-being of the mother. In Judaism, it is forbidden to kill a female bird. Better to kill its off-spring. The mother has the potential to compensate for this loss of life by bringing giving birth to other chicks.

3.. Qualitative - This is an especially vicious variant because it purports to endow subjective notions and views with “scientific” objectivity. People are judged to belong to different qualitative groups (classified by race, skin color, birth, gender, age, wealth, or other arbitrary parameters). The result of this immoral taxonomy is that the lives of the “lesser” brands of humans are considered less “weighty” and worthy than the lives of the upper grades of humanity. The former are therefore sacrificed to benefit the latter. The Jews in Nazi occupied Europe, the black slaves in America, the aborigines in Australia are three examples of such pernicious thinking.

4.. Utilitarian - When the sacrifice of one life brings another person material or other benefits. This is the thinking (and action) which characterizes psychopaths and sociopathic criminals, for instance. For them, life is a tradable commodity and it can be exchanged against inanimate goods and services. Money and drugs are bartered for life.

Buy A Business Far Away And Make More Money (With Less Stress) Than The Local Donut Shop Owner

June 20th, 2008

If you’ve ever wanted to buy and own a business that is a thousand…five thousand…even ten thousand miles away, and be completely “hands off”, where you do nothing but cash checks for a living, then I’ve got good news for you.

When I used to put on seminars on buying businesses people would always ask me, “can you manage it from a distance?”

My answer has always been, “Yes!”

In fact, in the past 25 years especially, I have not worked hands-on for any company. If you want to keep from getting grey and old before your time, consider not being a “hands-on” manager, because one of the best things that happens is you don’t have people bugging you all the time since you’re not there.

When you buy a large enough business with investors, there’s a manager there that takes care of the problems. Plus, if you want to buy multiple businesses (and make some real money), it’s a very difficult thing to do when you’re personally running any one of them yourself.

Frankly, it’s amazing how once you pull away and don’t run those businesses, how easy it is to buy and own multiple companies. You’re actually going to have less stress running five companies where you’re “hands-off” than the average guy with the little donut shop.

People sometimes find this hard to believe, but it’s the truth. It’s been my experience with the companies I run. So this is not based on some fantasy I have or something that I read in a book. It is based on actual experience. If you do it right, and are hands-off, you can own businesses in different countries and never deal with even a lick of stress. That’s what the managers you have in place are for.

Arthur B. Hamel has bought over 200 businesses in the past 50 years, and is a well-known author, consultant, investor, business owner, and dynamic lecturer who has shared the stage with such business greats as Robert Allen of “No Money Down” fame. The Hard Push Technique….turn on or turn off?

June 20th, 2008

A common marketing technique being taught by a number of different groups and marketing teams is the hard push tactic, where you give the prospect no real chance to refuse, create a massive sense of urgency and try and ensure they have no choice but to do as you wish.

I encountered this the other day with a member of the Dream Team marketing group. Now I am not in anyway trying to trash this course as I understand for some it is a good learning curve, however I have it on authority of another member that they do teach this technique.

For me it began with a couple of emails after I had enquired about the course. I was interested to see how they were teaching people to bring in 20 to 30 people a week into whatever business you were promoting. I asked that the person selling the course call me before 5pm to let me know more details. I didn’t hear anything further until I walked in from being out in the wind and rain at 7.30pm, soaked to the skin and the phone rang. My dinner was in the oven and would be another 20 minutes and the cats and dog needed feeding.

The guy asked what I was promoting and of course said what a great company it was and how the course he was going to introduce me to could explode my business. He said there was a live conference call at 8.00pm that night. I explained that I was interested but that I couldn’t really attend the call that night. The guy then got very pushy saying that if I was serious about my business I would miss by dinner and attend. I said I was not prepared to do that but would attend another call if there was one in a day or so. I was told that there was no further calls for a week or so and my place had to be specially reserved. I was basically told that I would never succeed in online business if my dinner came first and he hung up.

The next morning I emailed him to say I was no longer interested in pursuing the course as I had been totally put off by his attitude. I received a response saying he was sorry but that is the sales technique he had been taught on the course and it usually worked. Despite what he had said the day before there was another call that night.

I attended this apparent ‘live’ call to find it was a pre-recorded scripted call giving very little information and all hype and no real content. All I really discovered is that if I paid around $1000 for the course I could attend 4 live calls which would be at around 1am GMT, be taught how to get my own website which I already have and no real details of what the training entailed. I emailed the guy mentioned above to say I was not really interested as ‘live’ call had been a waste of time and totally uninspiring and that I did not think I would get anything out of it. His response - that I was a failure and would never succeed and I had wasted his time.

Now I have since talked to a couple of others involved in the Dream Team and both have been very friendly and pleasant but both acknowledged that the course probably wasn’t for me and that the hard push tactic was one of the techniques taught (as well as memorising sales scripts for the phone etc).

This tactic and the guy’s attitude totally put me off. This did not create a sense of urgency but left me feeling I was being bullied into something. I would think very carefully before using this hard
push idea to gain sales…yes try and close the sale but not by bullying your prospect.

The PropertyIndex.com Company — a Renowned Worldwide Property Forum

June 20th, 2008

Property Index can help with overseas property investment, view the properties available for investment.

Although the Property Index service is really a fledgling organisation, they were founded only in March of 2007, they have quickly established expert status. In actuality they are a extraordinarily cool organisation devoted to guiding everyone contemplating to rent, buy, sell etc. real estate no matter where. What they assure you of is to offer you assistance to determine bang-on what’s called for very swiftly and, to boot, without hassle. Real estate is up for grabs across the globe these days, one of the choicest areas being properties available in Spain. It should really be dead easy to list a slew of the glorious property available for sale in Spain, one argument for wanting property here being a combination of the houses and apartments available and the fun chance to live amid this spirited, passionate and brisk populace.

It’s one of the most sought after countries these days, and with the scenic splendor and wonderful weather surrounding you all the time, how could you ever go wrong… Real estate in Spain is very rich in history and culture, this realm of the world has a long tradition as a home to various sophisticated cultures. Just twenty years ago you would find just a dribble of Englishmen in search of property in Spain. Just ask any one single person who has chosen to move to Spain and they are certain to back it up. Quite a few people would look upon it as a rage and others look upon it as a practically a compulsion! People that will move to this area may range from young urban couples in search of a challenge in life to older generations who intend to rest and enjoy themselves.

There could well be troubles when acquiring property abroad - there’s a hundred steps to count in when organizing, calling in or completing. If you only miss one minor procedure it may trigger huge troubles plus, most importantly, a financial trouncing. As you will probably have assumed with this favored area, property may well be very high priced in this area which is, of course, merely owing to the great demand. Nonetheless the patron actually is pretty much spoiled in a location so determined by bright environment and great panorama. It’s got the whole kit and caboodle homebuyers may long for, and lots more.
